Mahmood Shaikh was one such soul a gentle guide, a creative mind, and a beloved teacher whose influence still echoes in classrooms and studios across Pakistan.

Born with a natural eye for design, Mahmood pursued his passion at the National College of Arts (NCA) in Lahore, graduating in 1974 with a diploma in publicity design. His thirst for knowledge led him to the prestigious Pratt Institute in New York, where he earned a Master’s degree in packaging design in 1980.

Returning to Pakistan, Mahmood brought with him not just international expertise but a vision to uplift local talent. He worked with major labels, setting new standards in packaging design. But it was in the classroom where his true magic unfolded.

Students fondly called him the “King of Packaging,” not just for his mastery of the subject but for the kindness and patience he extended to every learner. He believed in nurturing creativity, encouraging students to think beyond the box, literally and
figuratively.

Mahmood’s teachings went beyond design principles; he instilled confidence, inspired innovation, and emphasized the importance of integrity in work. His legacy lives on through the countless designers he mentored, many of whom credit their success to his guidance.

Though Mahmood Shaikh may no longer be with us, his spirit continues to inspire. Every time a beautifully crafted package catches your eye,
know that it carries a hint of his influence a testament to a man who designed with heart and taught with soul.
